What's Lab. of Crop Science?

We are studying with an aim to assure dietary by the stable production of crops, in view of world-wide population explosion and prospect of changes on global environment in future. Above all we pay attention to the basic phenomena, anabolism by the photosynthesis and accumulation, and install analyzing limiting factors of yield and enhancement basically theme of study. So we investigate effects on photosynthetic rate, translocation and assimilation, of environmental factors and potential traits by using variety technique of agronomy, physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, ecology, genetics, molecular genetics etc. in individual and population level.

< Principal Subjects of Research >

Analysis of grain filling process in rice caryopsis.
Analysis of sucrose synthesis and translocation process.
Analysis of limiting factor of photosynthetic rate.
Studies on senescence in rice.
Genetic analysis of rice AB-QTL using CSSLs.
Analysis of sucrose accumulation mechanism in sugar cane.
Metabolome analysis of rice using CE-MS spectrometry.

< Contents of Enquiry >

Studies on crop yield enhancement with physiological and biochemistrical technique.
(Field to molecular investigates.)
Materials:Specific cultivars and lines, Chromosome Segment Substitution rice Lines (CSSLs), GMO etc..
Methods:Measurement of carbon metabolism, Stable isotope(13C,15N), Enzyme activity(SPS), Microarray, Macroarray, RT-PCR, CE-MS, Data mining etc..
